About Women’s Health Istanbul
What is Women’s Health Istanbul?
Women’s Health Istanbul is an independent international patient coordination and health information platform. We connect women with experienced, independently licensed physicians and private hospitals in Istanbul, and coordinate the practical side of treatment — from the first confidential enquiry to aftercare once you are home. Clinical care is provided by the physicians and hospitals themselves.
Are you a clinic or a hospital?
No. We do not perform treatment ourselves. Diagnosis, surgery and clinical decisions are the responsibility of independent licensed physicians and the hospitals in which they practise. Our role is assessment coordination, specialist matching, travel and accommodation arrangements, interpreter support and structured aftercare communication.
How is Women’s Health Istanbul related to Men’s Health Istanbul?
Women’s Health Istanbul is the sister brand of Men’s Health Istanbul. Both follow the same principles — specialist-led care, transparent information and coordinated international patient support — with Women’s Health Istanbul focused on women’s health, intimate aesthetics and cosmetic surgery.
Travelling to Turkey
Can I travel alone?
Many women travel alone and are supported by a patient coordinator throughout their stay. For some procedures, particularly longer or combined operations, your surgeon may recommend that a companion travels with you for the first days of recovery. We will tell you this before you book.
Can someone accompany me?
Yes. A partner, friend or family member is welcome. Hospital rooms usually allow a companion to stay, subject to the hospital’s policy, and accommodation can be arranged for two.
Do I need a visa to travel to Turkey?
Visa requirements depend on your nationality and change from time to time. Please check the official guidance from the Republic of Türkiye and your own government before booking flights. Your coordinator can provide a letter confirming your treatment appointments if required.
Do you arrange airport transfers?
Yes. Private airport transfers can be arranged on arrival and departure, as well as transfers between your hotel and the hospital for appointments.
Plastic Surgery in Istanbul
Is plastic surgery in Turkey safe?
No surgery is without risk, in any country. Safety depends far more on the individual surgeon, the hospital, the anaesthesia team, appropriate patient selection and aftercare than on location. Istanbul has experienced specialists and modern private hospitals, but standards vary between providers. We coordinate care only with specialists working in leading private hospitals, and we encourage every patient to ask detailed questions before deciding.
Can I have several procedures together?
Sometimes. Whether procedures can safely be combined in one operation is decided individually by your surgeon and the anaesthesia team, taking into account your health, the total operating time and your recovery. In some cases a staged approach — two operations separated by several months — is the safer recommendation.
How does online consultation work?
You send an enquiry with your goals, medical history and, where relevant, photographs. A patient coordinator reviews it and arranges for an appropriate specialist to assess your case, usually followed by a video consultation. You then receive a written treatment plan. Surgery is only confirmed after an in-person consultation and pre-operative tests in Istanbul.
Safety
What safety measures are in place?
Treatment follows a structured pathway: specialist assessment, pre-operative tests, anaesthesia evaluation, surgery in a hospital operating theatre, post-operative monitoring and clear discharge criteria. Thrombosis and infection prevention are discussed for every surgical patient. You can read more on our Quality & Safety page.
Will I be told about the risks?
Yes. All surgical procedures carry risks. Your surgeon will discuss the potential benefits, limitations and individual risks with you before you decide whether to proceed. Each treatment page on this website also lists the recognised risks of that procedure.
Hospitals
Which hospital will I be treated at?
Depending on the surgeon and procedure, treatments may be performed at leading private hospitals in Istanbul, including LIV Hospital Vadistanbul, Memorial Bahçelievler and selected Acıbadem hospitals. The hospital is confirmed in your written treatment plan before you travel.
Will I stay overnight in hospital?
This depends on the procedure. Some treatments are day cases, while larger operations usually involve one or more nights in hospital so that you can be monitored. Your treatment plan states the expected hospital stay.
Doctors
How do I choose a surgeon in Istanbul?
Look for specialist training in the relevant field, verifiable registration, experience with the specific procedure you are considering, operating privileges at a reputable hospital, and a clear plan for aftercare. Ask who will perform your surgery, request to see consented before-and-after images of similar cases, and make sure you have the opportunity to ask questions in person before giving consent.
Will I meet my surgeon before surgery?
Yes. You will speak with your surgeon by video before travelling where possible, and you will always have an in-person consultation in Istanbul before surgery is confirmed.
Payment
How much does treatment cost?
Costs depend on the procedure, the surgeon, the hospital, anaesthesia, the complexity of your case, any combined procedures, the length of hospital stay and your accommodation requirements. You receive a personalised written quote after your medical assessment. We recommend choosing your surgeon and hospital based on medical quality, not price alone.
What does the quote include?
Your written plan sets out what is included — typically surgeon and hospital fees, anaesthesia, the hospital stay and planned follow-up — as well as any coordination services such as transfers and accommodation. Anything not included is stated clearly.
Accommodation
Do you arrange hotels?
Yes. We can arrange premium hotel accommodation close to your hospital, chosen for comfort, privacy and practicality during recovery. You are also free to make your own arrangements.
How many days should I stay in Istanbul?
It depends on the procedure. Minor treatments may need only a few days, while breast, body or combined procedures commonly require around 7–14 days. Each treatment page gives a typical recommended stay, and your surgeon will confirm the length of stay for your plan.
Recovery
When can I fly after surgery?
Timing depends on the procedure and on your individual recovery. Your surgeon will confirm when it is appropriate to fly, usually after a final check before departure. Long flights soon after surgery increase the risk of blood clots, so you will receive advice on mobilisation, hydration and compression.
Are interpreters available?
Yes. English-speaking coordinators support you throughout, and interpreter support can be arranged for consultations and your hospital stay where needed.
Complications
What happens if I have a problem after returning home?
Before you leave you receive a discharge summary, medication guidance and a direct contact route for remote follow-up. If you notice a concern, contact your coordinator, who will arrange a review with your surgeon, usually by video with photographs. In an emergency — for example chest pain, breathlessness, heavy bleeding or a high fever — contact your local emergency services first.
What if I need further treatment?
If a complication or concern arises, your surgeon will advise on the most appropriate next step. Policies on revision or further treatment vary between surgeons and hospitals and are explained in your written plan before you travel.
Aftercare
What aftercare is provided?
Aftercare typically includes post-operative checks in Istanbul before you fly, medication guidance, a written recovery plan, WhatsApp contact with your coordinator and scheduled remote follow-up with your surgeon. The exact pathway depends on your procedure.
Should I tell my GP or family doctor?
We recommend it. Sharing your discharge summary with your local doctor means they have the information they need if you require care at home.
Privacy
Will my information remain confidential?
Yes. Your photographs and medical information are handled confidentially and used only for the assessment and coordination of your care. They are shared only with the clinicians involved in your assessment and treatment.
How do I send photographs privately?
You can upload photographs securely through our enquiry form, or ask your coordinator for a private link. For intimate procedures, photographs are optional at the enquiry stage — an initial conversation can take place without them.
Intimate Surgery
Is it normal to want to discuss intimate concerns?
Yes. Women seek advice for many reasons, including discomfort, changes after childbirth, irritation during exercise or intimacy, and self-confidence. Normal anatomy varies widely, and an experienced specialist will help you understand your options — including when treatment is not needed.
Who performs intimate procedures?
Intimate procedures are performed by specialists such as gynaecologists with training in aesthetic gynaecology, or plastic surgeons experienced in genital surgery, depending on the procedure.
Breast Surgery
Do breast implants need to be replaced?
Breast implants are not considered lifetime devices. Many last for many years, but replacement or revision may be needed at some point. Your surgeon will discuss implant type, monitoring and long-term follow-up with you.
Can I breastfeed after breast surgery?
Many women can, but some procedures — particularly breast reduction and some lift techniques — may affect breastfeeding. Discuss future pregnancy and breastfeeding plans with your surgeon before surgery.
Body Contouring
Is liposuction a weight-loss treatment?
No. Liposuction treats localised fat that does not respond to diet and exercise. It is most suitable for people at or near a stable weight. Your surgeon will discuss whether liposuction, a tummy tuck or a combination is more appropriate.
Is a Brazilian Butt Lift safe?
BBL has historically been associated with a higher risk of serious complications than many other cosmetic procedures, particularly when fat is injected into or beneath the muscle. Current professional guidance emphasises placing fat only in the layer under the skin, careful patient selection, an experienced surgeon and a hospital setting with appropriate monitoring. Please read our BBL safety section before deciding.
